The Story of Violino Ristorante Italiano

Hailing from the Northern Italian region of Friuli, Franco Stocco began his food journey at culinary school in Venice in 1968. With his wife Marcella, he moved to Washington, D.C. and honed his own personal style of classical and contemporary Northern Italian cuisine. After stumbling upon Winchester, VA, in search of a place to open their very own restaurant, the Stocco family created Violino Ristorante Italiano. With a deep sense of family, excellent service, and made-from-scratch creative dishes, this restaurant is a favorite in the Shenandoah Valley.

Violino Ristorante Italiano Menu

Whether you are looking for a place to eat in between Shenandoah Valley adventures or a romantic atmosphere to spend your evening, the Violino Ristorante has you covered. Choose from the lunch or dinner menu!

Lunch

Shopping in boutiques and antique stores, wine tasting at local ventures, and hiking through the Shenandoah National Park can be strenuous. To refuel, enjoy a midday lunch at Violino Ristorante Italiano. Your antipasti options include grilled eggplant topped fresh tomatoes, herbs, and homemade mozzarella, fried calamari, or a delicious cheese plate with fruit and nuts for two. If you feel like lighter fare, enjoy a selection of salads. The garden with steamed shrimp, calamari, cannellini beans, boiled potatoes, and tomatoes is a healthy but delectable choice. Classic Italian vegetable soup is another good way to start your meal.

Traditional pastas will surely cure your appetite. Penne Violino is sauteed with olive oil, garlic, zucchini, and grilled chicken breast. Meanwhile, the Ravioli Agnulot is filled with veal and mixed greens sauteed with butter, sage, and pureed dry porcini. A classic potato gnocchi with pesto, tomato, bolognese, or wild mushroom sauce is another wonderful selection. For a seafood plate, indulge in the broiled salmon with lemon and caper sauce over spinach or a flounder filet sauteed with white wine.

Dinner

A romantic evening at Violino Ristorante will be the perfect way to end your day of Shenandoah Valley escapades. Sit down by candlelight and enjoy some delicious Italian food and wine with your sweetheart. The dinner menu is much the same as the lunch menu, just with more extensive options and a few substitutions. The specials, however, are a marvelous addition. Your mouth will water thinking about the grilled lamb chops with a Judea sauce, sauteed artichokes, and roasted potatoes. The braised local rabbit with fresh herbs, white wine, and olives served over soft polenta is another prime choice. If you’re looking for a seafood option, enjoy lobster ravioli with a lemon, parmesan cream sauce crowned with a whole cold water lobster tail!
