What to Expect at the Winchester Greek Festival

Opa! The Winchester Greek Festival is the perfect opportunity to immerse in the vibrant Greek culture, taste delicious food, and meet interesting new people. The best part? Admission is absolutely free!

The main draw for this event is the wide variety of succulent Greek dishes prepared by the Winchester Orthodox Church. The incredibly rich and diverse array of foods are the culmination of thousands of years of good cooking, eating, and living. From the moment you take a bite, your taste buds will be sent on a culinary journey to the Greek Islands. Here are just a few menu items you’ll be able to enjoy at the festival:

  • Athenian Chicken: Half-chicken seasoned with herbs, lemon, and garlic and roasted until golden brown.
  • Roast Lamb: Seasoned with herbs.
  • Pastitsio: The Greek version of lasagna. Baked macaroni layered with ground beef, cheese, and a rich cream sauce.
  • Feta Cheeses and Olives: Bowl of feta and kalamata olives.
  • Tiropita: Blend of Greek cheeses wrapped in a buttered filo.

Traditional Greek music and dancing is also a popular activity at the Winchester Greek Festival. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes so you can join in the fun and learn all of the dances. The Winchester Greek Festival takes place the weekend of August 19th-20th, 2018. On Saturday, you can attend anytime between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It’s also open Sunday starting at 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. We hope to see you there!
