Museum of the Shenandoah Valley Galleries
The second level of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley holds their 4 galleries. The Shenandoah Valley Gallery is the perfect spot to learn about the area. Here, you’ll find multimedia presentations and dioramas that teach about the Valley and its interesting past. The Founders Gallery and R. Lee Taylor Miniatures Gallery highlight the decorative arts of the area. Enjoy pieces from Rembrandt, portraits from the 1600s through 1800s, and house miniatures created by the museum’s late curator of gardens. The last gallery offers continually changing exhibits throughout the year.
Museum of the Shenandoah Valley Gardens
The Glen Burnie Gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley are absolutely breathtaking. Enjoy 7 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds around the historic home. Originally created as formal gardens in 1956, they are now maintained to keep their beauty year round. Here, you’ll find different sections that each have different plants. Glen Burnie House
Take a step back in time when you enter the Glen Burnie House. The 254-acre estate was built between 1794 and 1797. After a long 2-year renovation in 2014, this historic home is now open to the public for self-guided tours. When visiting, you’ll get to see belongings and decorations from some of the previous families that lived there. Learn all about its residents and their extravagant lifestyles filled with entertainment from the interpretive panels found around the home.
